AN APPEAL TO ALL THOSE WILLING TO HELP

Dear Sir/Madam,

  The Board of "LIVER" The Association to Help Children with Bileduct and Liver Diseases, having its office in Cracow, appeals to all people of good will to offer financial help to the 18-year-old JACEK KABA needed to buy auxiliary urostomy equipment and medicines not refunded by the medical insurance.

  JACEK KABA is one 272 children under the care of "LIVER" Association in Cracow. 26 of these children suffer from advanced hepatic failure. These children have been through a number of serious surgical procedures.
Our children are in every age. Majority of them require permanent medical care and face constant risk to their lives.

  JACEK`s severe, complicated disease (cirrhosis linked to Byler's disease) requires permanent use of auxiliary urostomy equipment.The equipment which is granted free of charge by local health authorities at the place of the child's residence and covered by the funds of the Ministry of Health, that is 5 urostomy bags per months is far too little compared to real needs. The boy needs at least 11 bags more per months x 12 months = 132 pcs of urostomy bags (plate + bag + sealing and healing paste). The price of one set is pln 19.30 x 132 sets = pln 2,547.60 + 15 tubes of paste annually which gives a total of pln 3,500

Apart from that the boy needs drugs the cost of which is nor refunded by the medical insurance and amounts to ca pln 2,500 annually.

Each payment brings relief in suffering. Do not stay indifferent - help the suffering child!!!

WE APPEAL TO ALL PEOPLE OF GOOD WILL - PLEASE HELP TO BUY THE UROSTOMY EQUIPMENT AND DRUGS NEEDED FOR THE 18-YEAR-OLD JACEK!!!

  Thanks to the activity of LIVER Association in Cracow, since June 1992 until now, the lives of 82 children have been saved in West-European hospitals co-operating with the Association. 63 children have had successful liver transplants (by various methods), 2 have been qualified to receive family liver transplants in Paris and Brussels.
This has been possible due to the generosity of a number of kind hearted people from Poland and abroad.
