AN APPEAL TO ALL THOSE WILLING TO HELP

  The Management of "LIVER" The Association to Help Children with Bileduct and Liver Diseases, having its office in Cracow, appeals to all people of good will to offer further financial help for buying very expensive medicines necessary for 272 children at the age of 3 months to the age 18 year old being under the care of "LIVER" Assosiation in Cracow. Most of them are the most serious diseases in Poland.

  These medicines are essential for saving the children's lives but very often they are not reimburse by healt service and they are also not found by Department of Health, even though they are clinical medicines

  Thanks to the activity of LIVER Association in Cracow, since June 1992 until now, the lives of 82 children have been saved in West-European hospitals co-operating with the Association. 62 children have had successful liver transplants (by various methods), 2 have been qualified to receive family liver transplants in Paris and Brussels.
This has been possible due to the generosity of a number of kind hearted people from Poland and abroad. Almost of the children requires a very expensive pharmacological treatment (witch is about 4.000 PLN)

  Furthermore , there is a group of children among our young patients who became infected by viral hepatitis type C and cytomegalia virus. The expensive of chronic clinical treatment of viral hepatitis type C with Rebetron medicine, depending on weight, in about 30.000 to 60.000 PLN annually.
Infection with cytomegalia virus requires a half-year treatment with Cymevene medicine and costs about 15.000 PLN.
But such a treatment often needs to be repeated.

WE APPEAL TO ALL PEOPLE OF GOOD WILL - PLEASE HELP TO BUY VERY EXPENSIVE MEDICINES FOR CHILDREN!!!
